(Music Interlude) (Lead: |G,G,G,G,F,E|D,E,F,E|D,E,F,E|D,C,D,C|)
C
Her parents never took the young girl to church
                               Am           G
Never spoke of His name, never read her His word
C
Two non-believers walking lost in this world
                                  Am         G
Took their baby with them, what a sad little girl
C
Her daddy drank all day and her mommy did drugs
                              Am         G
Never wanted to play, or give kisses and hugs
C
She'd watch the TV and sit there on the couch
                                  Am         G
While her mom fell asleep and her daddy went out
        Am               F        C                    G
And the drinking and the fighting just got worse every night
       Am                   F       C                    G
Behind their couch she'd be hiding, Oh what a sad little life (Music Interlude)
C
And like it always does, the bad just got worse
                    Am    G
With every slap and every curse
C
Until her daddy in a drunk rage one night
                          Am            G
Used a gun on her mom and then took his life
         Am              F    C                  G
And some people from the city took the girl far away
     Am            F        C                     G
To a new mom and a new dad, Kisses and hugs every day (Music Interlude)
C
Her first day of Sunday school the teacher walked in
                                     Am         G
And a small little girl, stared at a picture of Him
C
She said I know that man up there on that cross
                             Am          G
I don't know His name, But I know He got off
             Am          F         C                        G
Cause He was there in my old house and held me close to his side
     Am               F          C                          G
As I hid there behind our couch, That night that my parents died
(Music Interlude)
