• Cartersville 3 Hour Dance Workshop (03/31/12 Sat 2:00pm to 5:00pm) - Freestyle Dancing for Couples Dancers - Enhance your individual freestyle dancing. Then learn how to mix it into a couples dance using blues dancing techniques.
   

• Cartersville 3 Hour Dance Workshop (04/28/12 Sat 2:00pm to 5:00pm) - Lead/Follow Techniques - This workshop is useful for all couples dances.  There will be special focus on techniques used in the WCS dance.

  • Question:  Why did you start the Cartersville Dance Email List?
    Answer:  I want to provide a place in Cartersville GA where dancers can learn how to dance.  I also want to hold dance workshops several times a year to help build peoples their dance skills.  I figured that a large enough dance email list should help with those goals.  When I moved to Cartersville in the summer of 2003 from Jacksonville, FL I started looking for dance lessons and I found that Atlanta and surrounding areas was my only options.  In early 2007 I decided to bring couples dance lessons to Cartersville. In late October I began to hold a dance lesson at the Ambra Restaurant which is now closed.
  • Question:  What type of dancing is offered?
    Answer: I like to teach West Coast Swing (WCS) because you can dance WCS to about 75% of all the songs normally played by a DJ at most dance clubs however, it is one of the hardest dances to learn. I teach Swing, Latin, Country, Ballroom and Blues dancing.
  • Question: Is there an age group or age limit and what is the cost?
    Answer: It depends on the location.  If the location doesn't have a min age then assume 14 yrs old so they are tall enough to dance with an adult.
  • Question:  Do you have to bring a partner?
    Answer: Singles and couples are welcome.  We rotate partners very frequently during the class so no partner is needed.
  • Question:  What other goals do you have for dance in Cartersville?
    Answer:  Once there is a large enough couples dance interest, I'd like to have a dance venue for the following dance nights:  Singles Mingle, Teen Night, Latin,  Country, Ballroom and Swing.  I'm also looking for opportunities to bring couples dancing to teenagers and college age students.  I welcome any ideas.  I want to leave a legacy of dance.
